Charity shops should remain exempt from paying rates #morethanashop

Commenting after a coalition of charities urged the Finance Minister to reject a proposal that charity shops should begin paying rates, UKIP NI Regional Secretary, Alan Lewis said:

“Charity shops should definitely remain exempt from paying rates. The Money raised by such shops should benefit and support the vital work of their particular charity; not line the coffers of government. I agree that it is ‘illogical to impose a tax on public benefit’ and I support the #MoreThanAShop campaign.”

Mr. Lewis added:

“Isn’t it interesting that the Finance Minister has chosen to defer making a final decision on this matter until after the election period. Convenient?”
