Commenting on recent events and an upsurge in crime and anti-social behaviour in the local area, UKIP Prospective Candidate in North Belfast, Ken Boyle has said:
“There appears to be a worrying trend locally as criminal activity and anti-social behaviour has been on the rise recently in the area. It is well documented that there are a number of criminal gangs operating throughout North Belfast and within the borough of Newtownabbey.
“In recent weeks, we have witnessed a spate of activity such as burglaries and there has been a considerable rise in violent attacks on the elderly and vulnerable within our community.”
Mr. Boyle added:
“This is unacceptable. We in UKIP fully condemn all criminal activity in the area and I call upon the PSNI to be more proactive in clamping down on crime and pursuing those responsible.
“In particular, I want to call upon the police to be doing much more to introduce security measures to protect the most vulnerable in society in their homes.
“In the run up to Christmas, a time when families gather round the table during this festive season, they shouldn’t be on edge worrying about the potential threat of attack in their own homes. I hope the PSNI are introducing an action plan to meet these challenges head on.”
