Unionists must remove over-arching presence of the IRA Army Council
David McNarry MLA, UKIP Leader in Northern Ireland, has said :
“UKIP has one major demand of those Unionists engaging in the five party talks with Dublin calling the deal is done.
“We demand that, before any agreement – be it a two party, three or four or five party alliance – that Unionists remove the overarching presence of the armed IRA army council in government.”
Mr McNarry added:
“This soon to be done deal cannot survive unless the status of the armed IRA council controlling Sinn Fein is removed. Unionists agreeing to the Army council remaining will be knocked back come the Assembly election.
“The silence is deafening from Unionists at the talks on this critical subject. They must speak now as they cannot hide from evasive rhetoric if the army council remain part of Sinn Fein’s presence in Government.”
