McNarry says behind the scenes talks on welfare reforms are taking a dangerous route
David McNarry MLA, UKIP Leader in Northern Ireland, says that behind the scenes talks involving the Social Development Department are in the throes of rolling out a dangerous route on welfare reform.
Mr McNarry says that welfare reform talks are hurtling towards a post-election deal using a three year implementation plan with a ‘sunset’ clause. The plan is to finance welfare reforms through more cuts across all departments.
The idea is to get the Assembly over the line with next year’s Stormont elections in mind. Mr McNarry added that both sets of London and Dublin civil servants have been working with officials at Stormont on this plan. The DUP and Sinn Fein, he says, are playing pass-the-parcel pinocchio politics with people’s lives and well being. Neither, it is clear, can be trusted.”
