In an unprecedented situation unknown to David McNarry, UKIP Northern Ireland Leader, Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy could be held accountable by the PPS for his actions.
The Regional Development Committee member added :
“The Minister’s failure to divulge information about the number of commercial expressions of interest there have been in building this rail link has led to serious questions being asked regarding the project, originally with an estimated cost of £20 million which has since doubled to £40 million. That should set alarm bells ringing. The weaknesses in the procurement process are already the subject of major public concern.”
“In response to my questions today, the Minister informed the Assembly that he had funds to complete the project by the end of 2016. In which case, why should be spurn the Regional Development Committee’s investigations into this matter?”
