Higginson: Loss of 200 jobs in West Belfast would be a huge blow

UKIP Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for West Belfast Brian Higginson has called on the Enterprise Minister and Invest NI to do all they can to help retain the jobs at the Ageas Retail Call centre in Springvale Business Park.

Commenting, Mr Higginson said:

“The company has now entered into a 90 day redundancy consultation period. The potential loss of 200 jobs would be a huge blow to an area that already  has the highest rate of unemployment in Northern Ireland.”

Commenting further, he added:

“I will be meeting with the company alongside UKIP Leader in NI David McNarry MLA  to see if we can help lobby the parent company to review their decision. According to staff, they were assured recently that the Belfast call centre was an integral part of the companies business plan going forward. So I ask, why now has their been a change? I know from my own experiences as former union shop steward that during negotiations with companies, solutions can be found that benefits all. We will be looking for answers for these workers and hopefully solutions can be found to keep these much needed jobs in West Belfast.”
