Commenting on the introduction of higher bus and rail fares, UKIP Leader in Northern Ireland David McNarry has said:

“Any notion of putting up bus and rail fares and reducing bus and rail services simply to bail out Translink is not on. Translink are pulling the wool over the eyes of Minister Kennedy and his complicit officials.”

Mr McNarry added:

“Translink has plenty of money in their reserves and in their portfolio of valuable assets. Why hit customers? Many people have been forced out of the car on to buses and rail, and now they put the prices up. People will be driven back to cars.”
