Earlier today, PSNI officers recovered a firearm during a search in Lisburn.

The item was found during a planned search in the Flowbog Road area shortly after 2pm.

Commenting on the find, UKIP Lisburn South Representative Brian Higginson said:

“I want to commend Lisburn PSNI on their hard work. It’s good to see this item removed from society , and I outright condemn those criminals who left the weapon, and continue to use guns as part of their criminal activity.”

Mr Higginson added:

“Guns serve absolutely no purpose in our community, and anyone with any information on criminal activity such as this going on in and around Lisburn should report it instantly to the police.”
