UKIP Deputy Leader Paul Nuttall MEP was in Belfast on Thursday night as the keynote speaker at the 2014 UKIP Northern Ireland AGM. The event was held at 7:30PM at the Raddison Blu Hotel, Gasworks, Belfast.
Speaking at the event, Mr Nuttall said:
“UKIP is the party that is sending a clear message right across the United Kingdom. After topping the polls and winning the European election, UKIP is set to continue to send shockwaves throughout Westminster next year and pick up multiple seats in the General Election. UKIP is the only fully national party truly committed to every part of the United Kingdom; with elected representatives now in England, Scotland, Wales and right here in Northern Ireland.
Commenting further, the UKIP Deputy Leader said: “We are making strides here aswell. 25,000 people voted for us locally in the European elections. We now have one MLA and four elected councillors here in Northern Ireland. If you had told me a couple of years ago that we would have 4 councillors, and would receive 25,000 votes in our first European election in the province, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. That is how far we have come in such a short space of time.”
On closing, the MEP for the North West of England remarked that; “UKIP are making real progress here in Northern Ireland, and we have only just begun. We will have candidates standing here next year here in the Westminster election, and I firmly believe that come 2016, when all eyes will be firmly focused on Assembly elections, a similar shockwave will be sent locally, when we will have a number of UKIP MLA’s sitting up on that hill.”
